Role description:

We are looking for a Scientist with a strong background in immunology to join our growing Vaccines research team. The Vaccines research team is responsible for developing both prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines using dbDNA technology. The postholder will be expected to contribute to the development and pre-clinical testing of vaccine candidates using a range of immunological techniques.

A key responsibility will be the development, qualification, and implementation of cellular assays to test vaccine immunogenicity. The Scientist will be able to independently design and execute experiments, analyse, interpret, and document results. Suitable candidates should have good knowledge of T cell biology and have experience with handling primary cells, ELISpot, and multi-parameter Flow Cytometry to analyse cytokine production by T cells. This position reports to the Senior Pre-Clinical Immunologist leading the pre-clinical characterization of vaccine candidates.

Key responsibilities:

Development and qualification of ELISpot assay
Development and qualification of intra-cellular cytokine analysis using multi-parameter Flow Cytometry
Analyse, interpret, document and present experimental results
Use experimental data to draft detailed SOPs
Proactively recognise and solve technical problems
Organise and maintain the team databases, including reagent and sample inventories
Contribute to lab maintenance

Qualifications and experience:

Applicants should have a PhD in Immunology or related discipline with strong knowledge of T cell biology
Essential technical experience: ELISpot, Flow Cytometry, ELISA, cell culture, working with primary cells.
Ability to develop and optimize assays
Ability to plan and organise work independently
Skilled in experimental design and troubleshooting
Independent, flexible, and self-motivated
Be engaged with science and eager to advance our understanding of vaccinology

All candidates should possess clear communication and presentation skills and an ability to work effectively as an individual and within a multidisciplinary team. Successful candidates will also be proficient in experimental design, implementation, and analysis, organising and managing their work, and delivering results to established timelines.
