We are a pioneering DNA research and development company located in custom-built laboratories in Hampton, west London. Our proprietary in vitro DNA amplification technology leads the way in the production of high-quality synthetic DNA (dbDNA) for cutting edge, therapeutic products.

Touchlight is currently seeking an experienced scientist to join its Vaccine Group to design and develop new vaccines for prophylactic and therapeutic indications. This is an exciting, fast-paced research environment suited to creative individuals who can thrive within a multidisciplinary scientific team.

The Vaccine Group is responsible for in-house and external research advancing the Touchlight product pipeline. The role will focus on exploring the potential of dbDNA technology in a number of therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines, encompassing both discovery and preclinical development.

Role description:

Your principal role will entail the discovery and evaluation of new vaccine candidates, supporting the advancement of novel DNA medicines. You will be responsible for the development of innovative cell-based and PCR-based assays. In addition, you will be heavily involved in the numerous collaborative projects with academia and industry. You will be expected to take on a pivotal role at the interface between discovery and preclinical development.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Applicants should have a PhD in immunology/cell biology and/or several years’ experience in a relevant setting
  • Background in the technologies relevant to vaccine design and development, with a good understanding of animal models, is essential
  • Knowledge of the use of adjuvants and innate immune system engagement is highly desirable
  • Applicants must have a demonstrated background in the transfection, handling and imaging of mammalian cells
  • Expertise in the use and development of biological assays including flow cytometry, ELISA and qPCR is essential
  • Processing of biological samples generated in in vivo studies will be essential
  • Experimental design and designing endpoints suitable for translational immunology will form the basis of successful projects

The successful candidate will be bringing ideas to life, and must therefore be engaged with science, adaptable to new approaches, and eager to work within a fast-moving team

All candidates should possess clear communication and presentation skills and an ability to work effectively as an individual and within a multidisciplinary team. Successful candidates will also be proficient in organising and managing their work and delivering results to established timelines.
